IT outsourcer and services provider Computer Sciences Corporation is teaming with enterprise software vendor SAP to offer the manufacturing and mining industries solutions in Australia.

The two multinationals plan to combine CSC’s systems integration skills and ability to customize technologies for the mining and manufacturing sectors with SAP’s xApp Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence (SAP xMII) platform.

Under the alliance, CSC will provide its systems integration expertise to deploy SAP xMII, which allows users to continuously monitor real time information such as orders, materials, equipment status, costs and product quality, and send that information throughout the business via their intranet, extranet or Internet without modifications.

“CSC has worked with SAP for more than 25 years,” said Rod Paine, vice president of CSC’s Australian operations. “Today’s alliance will enable customers in the manufacturing and mining industries to produce results that will help increase efficiency and productivity.”

“xMII is a proven technology that delivers sustainable business improvements,” said John Smith, head of SAP Alliances, Australia and New Zealand. “The combination of CSC’s technology expertise and SAP’s software creates a valuable offering for customers."

CSC’s mining and manufacturing clients include BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto, BlueScope, Newmont, Woodside and OneSteel.
