Leading real estate group Mirvac has selected a locally developed facilities access management system to supervise the activities of contractors on its sites throughout Australia. Praxeo, a newly developed software suite from Sydney-based Valorem Systems, is now being installed in about 60 Mirvac shopping centres, commercial office buildings and industrial facilities.

Training on the new system began late last month and the rollout is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

Praxeo is a web-based system that automates all of the people management issues on a site by monitoring and reporting activity against specific rules and parameters. The Praxeo suite consists of three specific software applications – one for property owners; one for contractors and one for tenants.

Mirvac will have full visibility of who is on site, what they are doing and whether they comply with health and safety requirements.

Praxeo is also designed to ensure that before contractors can begin work on a property they have been properly inducted and that their insurances are up to date.

While contractors are on site, Mirvac can give them messages, send them work orders and monitor progress of their activities.

Chris Luscombe, Mirvac’s Director of Engineering and Operations, said Praxeo would give him a portal into the company’s properties around Australia.

“Praxeo gives me the tools to keep contractors up to date and to put a lot more rigour into the way we manage their activities,” Mr Luscombe said. “It ensures they comply with our policies and procedures so we can focus on ‘business as usual’.

“If something isn’t right, we will get a tap on the shoulder to alert us and we can then apply the necessary resources, as they are needed, in a cost effective and efficient manner.”

“Mirvac is our largest customer for Praxeo and we believe it sets a new benchmark for facilities access management systems,” Jon Tinberg, Chief Executive Officer of Valorem said.

“Once the system is fully operational, we are confident that many of Mirvac’s contractors and tenants will also become Praxeo customers because they will see the tremendous benefits if offers their businesses.”
