MOR(F) Dynamics Pty Ltd, an innovative Australian technology company, is developing the MOJI Intelligent Messenger, the world’s first artificially intelligent 3D pet-based  instant messenger that understands, transforms and reacts to natural human language and chat...more

The company is devoted to fusing Language Technologies with 3D Real-Time Visualisation Techniques. Imagine a scenario where machines can “tune-into”, “listen” and understand what we are talking or writing about, and to then create real-time 3D images that responds to our every word, our emotions, our ideas. Imagine the ability of being able to describe and create your own adorable pets, personal avatars, creative emoticons and images that can then interact and chat intelligently with you, your friend and your friend’s “Creations”!

They call this Total, Interactive and Intelligent Communication, powered by the MOR(F) Engine.

The MOJI Intelligent Messenger and related Social Web 2.0 project will be developed by the product team at the MOR(F) Dynamics Interactive Communications Laboratories as a stand-alone intelligent 3D instant messaging application. Such a novel application demonstrates the power of the MOR(F) core technology in the area of meaning derivation in natural human language in order to generate accurate, interactive, intelligent and “cool” 2- and 3- dimensional real-time graphics that visualises people’s ideas, dreams, emotions, personalities and fantasies.

According to CEO, Robert Fong, “We have chosen the Instant Messaging medium for our first introduction of these innovations not only because we believe it to be a pre-figuration of the future’s main media, but also because it is a perfect playground for our technology and vision. The amount of features and technological diversity we can have in an Instant Messenger will immediately set us apart of other instant messaging devices and applications and give us excellent product differentiation.”

The MOR(F) Intelligent Messenger is defined as an Interactive Instant Messenger that generates a immersive environment that fluctuates, modulates, changes, morphs, reacts and responds intelligently and emotionally to a user’s dialogue/conversation as he or she chats to a friend or another person. Based on descriptions and articulations by a user on his/her personality, profile, activities, hobbies etc., users can create and personalise their own cool, funky, sexy pets, characters, emoticons, avatars, spaces, dynamic display backgrounds, wallpapers etc. and then watch their pets/characters interact and chat with them, their friends and their friends pets/characters! In addition, dynamic display backgrounds or spaces change and fluctuate according to how a user is feeling, his/her emotional status or moods.

For the first time, an instant messenger performs as any other instant messenger would but feels and plays like a game – easy to use and fully interactive to a user’s dialogue. A powerful natural language processor backed by an equally unique and powerful 3D Engine provides the MOJI Intelligent Messenger with not only beautifully rendered, responsive and intelligent real-time 3D characters and images, but also the abilities for Real Time Intelligent Learning, Natural Language Search Capabilities, Intelligent Personal Digital Characters/Assistants and Conversational Pet-Agents.

The MOJI Intelligent Messenger is different in 2 two important ways that sets it apart from all other instant messengers or communications portals.

Firstly, it learns. In some ways it models the way humans learn language, facts, context and rules. By learning from humans, the intelligent messenger can then pretty much visualise any 2- or 3-dimensional image or graphic through verbal or textual descriptions. By learning from human dialogue or conversations and enhanced by the ability to extract meaning and emotion from language, the system can remember, graft itself onto a user’s personality or develop its own personality.

Secondly, it’s all about Pets. We are all familiar with emoticons that convey human emotion in a simplistic, amazingly boring and non-personal or creative graphical form in Instant Messengers, emails or mobile messages.

We are also familiar with the Tamagotchi or Pokemon sensations. These virtual pets are cute, adorable, semi-intelligent, interactive and through the sheer fact that they demand attention, can be personalised and “owned” by a user. The MOJI Intelligent Messenger allows a user to create his/her own pet, avatar or image and to assign or describe a personality for that pet that could be a mirror of a user’s own personality or a personality of its own. The MOJI-Pet, once created, can then interact intelligently with a user on a variety of levels, just by chatting or speaking with it.

And creating a personal pet that generates a sense of ownership and emotional attachment to a user is a unique concept for an instant messenger and one that drastically affects the company’s business and revenue models.

Language is such a powerful communication device. By being able to drill right down into meaning, concept and context in natural dialogue, the MOJI IM is able to fully enhance and evolve the experience and interaction between humans and computer devices. This is truly interactive, interpersonal, creative and intelligent communication.

In addition, through enhanced artificial intelligence, natural language processing and a unique and powerful 3D Engine, these creations can actually respond and interact with a users’ dialogue and/or conversations. Feeling sad or blue? Watch your dynamic backgrounds and emoticons or avatars automatically change to reflect your mood. Want to insult your friend’s pets or emoticons? Simply instruct your pet to “travel” or “visit” your friends Messenger space and give him/her a playful slap on the head!!

“This technology goes beyond understanding word structures, it understands words, so it understands language, grammar, context, nuance, double meanings and it gives the user the power to alter their virtual objects and environments, avatars, 3D characters and spaces simply by speaking or writing,” explains Robert.

Currently focused on the Asian and Asia Australasian markets, the product is currently slated for release in early 2007 available for both adults and children. The MOJI Intelligent Messenger will satisfy the needs of groups of people willing to spend time online, at the same time allowing users to create an emotional attachment with a virtual pet.

The MOJI Intelligent Messenger is the most interactive, creative, intelligent, dynamic and responsive instant messenger in the world. It is not only your portal to social networking, chatting, sharing, and entertaining. It is also your friend, your pet, your personal assistant, your space.

The MOJI Intelligent Messenger is an immersive world of Total Communication.
