NEC Corporation will merge its two Australian business arms to form an integrated company with a combined revenues of AUD$582 million. NEC Business Solutions Ltd will be integrated into NEC Australia Pty Ltd, effective as of 1 April, 2007.

The integration of NEC’s Australian operations is aimed at increased synergy between the two businesses and enhanced business collaboration in the key areas of IT and networks. NEC Australia will continue to be headquartered in Melbourne.

The decision to integrate NEC’s Australian operations was taken in response to the rapid changes occurring in the Australian ICT market, in particular the growth of broadband, IP telephony and wireless communications, according to the Japanese electronics giant.

NEC Australia believes it will be able to improve cost structures and increase its effectiveness as a supplier of integrated voice and data solutions toward promotion of long-term growth through joint business opportunities and increased efficiencies.

“The integrating  of these NEC operations will strenghten our product and solutions portfolio immensely, putting us in a unique position to offer our diverse customer base integrated end-to-end solutions, reducing integration and installation timeframes considerably,” said Toshiharu Iwasa, Managing Director of NEC Business Solutions and NEC Australia.
