Because Microsoft Australia only has 45 review copies of Vista and Office 2007, and with over 70 journalists scheduled to attend the event, getting a review copy is on a first come, first served basis. Unfortunately, some journalists will miss out, with no future date given as yet for when more copies will become available. Quite why this is the case, with license keys able to be easily made available, is unknown. But we’re not taking any chances – our computer has been running Vista RC1 for months now and is crying out for the final code. The launch officially starts at 9.30am, where we’ll be joining, according to the press release, “Microsoft Australia Managing Director Steve Vamos and Brad Brooks, General Manager, Windows Product Marketing, Microsoft Corp, together with industry-leading customers and Microsoft partners Toshiba, Dell and HP”. We’ll be shown how “Windows Vista, the 2007 Microsoft Office system and Exchange Server 2007 can ease deployment, help increase efficiency and enhance security for Australian businesses”. Clearly, these benefits will be available to all other businesses around the world that choose to use Microsoft’s latest softawre, but hey, this is the Australian launch, so they’ve tailored the press release to suit. Scheduled content for the day includes: - how early adopters are benefiting from these products - the innovations and new directions this launch will trigger for businesses and the industry - live demonstrations of Windows Vista and the 2007 Microsoft Office system We’ll be connected to wireless broadband and will be reporting on the launch live from the event, so check back at iTWire for more as the morning unfolds. {moscomment} |
