Sydney, 27 November, 2006 – PayGlobal, a fast growing HR and payroll software company, today announced the appointment of Richard Barrie as General Manager of Sales and Marketing.

Based in Sydney, Barrie will be responsible for driving sales of PayGlobal’s suite of payroll, rostering, time and attendance, human resource, self service, and web recruiting software, while continuing to expand PayGlobal’s footprint in Australia through direct-to-market and channel partner distribution.

He brings more than 20 years’ IT industry experience to the company, with sales, marketing, and management positions in the software, hardware, new media and mobile telecommunications industries.

Prior to joining PayGlobal, Barrie spent 12 years at Microsoft’s headquarters in Seattle, where he was responsible for implementing Microsoft’s mobile device strategy, and at MSN, working on a range of projects from subsidiary start-up and partner engagements, through to MSN Mobile.
He also spent time in Microsoft Research, working on its Smart Personal Object Technology (SPOT).  During this time, Richard drove the successful launch of the North American SPOT network, including spectrum and content acquisition from broadcasters and media companies for a go-to-market wrist watch containing an MS-designed processor, radio chip, and operating system.

He has also worked at Zenith Data Systems in a technical marketing role and previously was a research scientist with British Telecom at its research laboratories.

“Richard brings a proven track record of success to the local team,” said Melissa Clark-Reynolds, Chief Executive Officer at PayGlobal. “His appointment will enable us to consolidate our position as a leading provider of payroll services in Australia, and is also well timed to meet the increasing demand for integrated HRMIS solutions.”
Barrie holds a MBA from Durham University Business School and a Bachelors of Science with Honours in Electronics and Electrical Engineering from Dundee University.  He is also an accredited co-inventor of the patent – Previews of information for selected download on auxiliary display.
