It argues that consumers searching for engaging content are increasingly turning to video-on-demand, mobile applications, IPTV and other Internet-enabled channels and that to attract and retain these consumers, media and telco organisations must adapt to the realities of new media, channel proliferation and device divergence. Vignette says it will use Sun Fire servers running the Solaris 10 operating system and identity management system to "provide a single and unified model for controlling and delivering all forms of digital objects, media content, services and applications on multiple platforms to multiple devices such as phones, set-top-boxes, IP television and PDAs." Vignette's software is available now to run on Solaris 9 and Solaris 10 on the UltraSPARC processor. Availability on Solaris 10 on the Sun x64 (x86, 64-bit) platform is planned for the first half of 2007.{moscomment} |
