Dell has been chosen as the preferred desktop and notebook supplier to the Northern Territory Department of Employment, Education and Training (DEET), covering 192 schools, 3,000 teachers and more than 40,000 students in a deal involving the supply of 10,000 PCs.

Under the contract, students from all public and private sector schools - spanning kindergarten to year 12 and including the iconic ‘School of the Air’ with hundreds of remote stations will have access to OptiPlex desktop and Latitude notebook models from Dell.

The Northern Territory DEET tender is part of the deployment of a second generation of hardware, software and learning systems which will be completed by Nov 2006.

Ten thousand Dell Optiplex desktops and Dell Latitude notebooks will be rolled out and custom-built with a factory-installed image.  Additionally, the Territory will use Dell’s Asset Tagging and Reporting Services.

“Dell is proud to support the work of the Northern Territory government in integrating technology further into education, improving learning environments and driving connectivity for such a geographically dispersed student and teacher population,” said Joe Kremer, vice president and managing director for Dell Australia and New Zealand.
