Want to listen to music underwater, or while surfing? It’s all possible with a totally waterproof iPod case. Fully compatible with the latest 5th generation video iPods, you could even watch Finding Nemo underwater, while looking for him amongst the coral!

With cameras having had waterproof casings for years, if not decades, it should come as no surprise that consumers want other digital devices to be waterproof as well. While two or three of the latest camera models are now waterproof without needing any special casings whatsoever, Apple hasn’t yet designed a waterproof iPod.

While they may do that in the future, some consumers have demanded the ability to use their iPod underwater today. Now waterproof cases with impact and element resistance for the iPod have arrived.

The H2O Audio Advanced Waterproof Housing for Apple iPod with Video, along with cases for the Shuffle, nano, Mini and older iPod generations are the answer. Already available for several months in the US, H2O has officially arrived in Australia, just in time for our hot summer season – and the potential of plenty of beachside action and underwater fun.

Each case is submersible up to 3 meters, although there is a catch – you’ll need to buy a pair of H2O Audio fully waterproof headphones at AUD $49.95 with most models of the waterproof case to complete the waterproof package.

Understanding that people want to keep the ease of using an iPod intact wherever they are, H2O have designed their case with a ‘Commander’ Scroll Wheel which lets you easily control player functions even under water.

Costs for each case varies slightly depending on the model it is designed for. The H20 Video case for 5G iPods is AUD $110. The H2O case for the 1st-gen nano retails for AUD $99, while the case for the 1st-gen Shuffle is AUD $59.95. All three cases come with an armband.

As explained earlier, the matching fully waterproof headphones cost AUD $49.95 and are sold separately.

If you’ve a hankering to take your iPod on an underwater adventure, the H2O cases are what you need – until Apple’s own waterproof model, but no-one expects that anytime soon. For more information, visit H2O’s website.
