FITT ICT Trends lunch E-mail

The Females in Information Technology and Telecommunications (FITT) group invites you to come along to hear about the latest ICT trends with our expert speakers, Catherin Bennet and Pia Waugh will share their insight of future ICT.

The Females in Information Technology & Telecommunications [FITT] is a network to inspire, encourage and support women in the ICT industry.  Through networking, skills development workshops and mentoring we aim to encourage more women into the ICT industry and inspire and support those already in it. 

FITT is a special interest group of the Australian Information Industry Association [AIIA].

 

At the lunch will cover issues of interest to IT management in corporate and government and you will learn about Open Source lower cost/"free" software what it is, and how it is changing the ICT industry.

 

The ICT Trends Lunch will give you an opportunity to broaden your understanding of the ICT industry of the future.

 Speakers:
Catherin Bennett is Director of IDC's IT Management Programme for Australia and New Zealand. She is responsible for IDC’s Information Technology Experience Program (InTEP), a management focus group that provides senior MIS managers and strategic planning managers of major corporate and government customers with assistance in the business implementation of information technology. Catherin is also responsible for leading, managing and developing IDC’s local and global end-user research advisory services within the Australian and New Zealand markets. She is a former FITT Steering Committee meber.
 
Pia Waugh is involved in several organisations doing Linux consulting and research. She started using Linux in 1999, and quickly found a world of opportunity where she was only limited by her imagination. She learned how technology can not only solve technical problems, but also help alleviate broad social problems like poverty and the Digital Divide. She has been invited to speak all over the world and by 23 she had attended her first United Nations conference. Date & times: Tuesday 14 November 2006, 12:00 – 2pm
