Telstra has moved into the market for distribution of video content to remote screens around Australia: for advertising or intra-company communications purposes.

Distribution will be over virtual private networks on Telstra's national IP network, Connect IP and Telstra will provide a complete end to end system, that will include the hardware and software platform to host and distribute the video content, provision of help desk and field technical support services and ongoing management of the end user video screens. The service will be marketed under the name 'Telstra Digital Retail Media Solution'.

Customers will be able to upload their own content but Telstra has also partnered with Prime Digital Media which will provide content creation services. A web portal will enable customers to manage distribution of their content in real time.

Telstra has named Retravision and Boost Juice as the first two customers for the service. It will also be used by Executive Channel and in 84 Telstra Shops.

According to Telstra Convergent Solutions' executive director, Lynda O'Grady, "The solution can be used in various ways - to carry a company's own messages to display in-store, to show third party advertising at points of purchase or high traffic areas, or even to conduct training activities with staff."{moscomment}
