VoIP provider, Engin (ASX: ENG) has partnered with Hewlett-Packard and Intel to enable HP business desktop PCs and HP business notebook computers to be sold with the engin softphone pre-installed and preconfigured and with an analogue telephone adaptor pre-installed.
This will enable these computers to be plugged striaight into an ethernet port connected to an ADSL modem and used to make VoIP calls. The combined offering will be targeted primarily at small to medium sized businesses through HP resellers and channel partners. Engin announced a similar partnership with local PC maker, Optima in June. The key to both partnerships is the new Intel 600SM PCI phone adapter, a plug in PC card which contains an analogue phone adaptor.{moscomment}
