The Cloud has hotspots at airports, hotels and railway stations across the UK, Germany, the Nordics and The Netherlands and claims to be adding "hundreds of new hotspots coming online every month." The Cloud also operates large scale networks across the City of London, Canary Wharf, Amsterdam and nine other UK cities including Manchester and Edinburgh. The SMC WiFi phone service with Skype and The Cloud will initially launch in the UK in October, with the Nordics and Germany to follow towards the end of the year. The service is due to commence in France, Spain, Italy and Benelux at the start of 2007. In July 2005 Skype and The Cloud announced a partnership for the beta version of Skype Zones. This enabled anyone with a WiFi enabled PC with a special version of the Skype softphone to be automatically connected to Skype when they turned on their PC within the coverage area of a Cloud hotspot. At the same time Skype announced a partnership with WiFi hotspot operator and roaming access provider, Biongo, to enable people using Skype on a Windows PC to make phone calls via Boingo's network of 18,000 WiFi hotspots worldwide, using a customised version of the Biongo software. It seems more than likely, as predicted by iTWire earlier this year, that Skype will set up a similar arrangement with Biongo to that announced with The Cloud.{moscomment}
