Architects, building designers and project builders now have access to software that reduces risk, PI insurance premiums and improves work procedures and ultimately company profits. The much anticipated release of Risk Manager Architecture has created quite a stir in the building industry.
Developed specifically for the architecture and building design industry the software takes an individual project through the design and approval process, using a series of formalised procedures and check lists with the support of an ongoing education program. Features include an easily editable contact list, a stored database of communication records including drawings, faxes, emails and letters, a journal to record informal notes, task delegation, alert windows when tasks extend beyond the due date, status notification for each job, and a central flowchart. The program adopts the principals of the risk management standard AS/NZS 4360:2004 and even caters for the legislative differences in each state. Awarded ‘Finalist Australian Innovation Award’, Risk Manager Architecture is the all-in-one solution designed to make risk management simple. Developed by Red Gravel Publications over five years, director Jim Demetriou believes it will change the way architects manage their projects. “Managing risk is an integral part of good business practice and quality management in a design office. We wanted to design a program that helped identify and analyse key issues and provide a systematic way of making informed decisions,” says Mr Demetriou. “This is much easier to achieve with accurate and consistent documentation between architectural and third party documents, such as those from engineers. It addresses common problem areas such as inadequate documentation, errors and omissions.” “There is much more emphasis on litigation in the building industry as well as constantly changing legislation. With Risk Manager, those in the building industry will always be up to speed on what’s happening in the industry,” says Mr Demetriou. Risk Manager also improves work flow and efficiency in the office, by giving each staff member a better understanding of their own responsibilities and accountabilities. Discounts to PI insurance premiums are available for those firms that have implemented Risk Manager Architecture. The program retails for $1089.00 per concurrent user for a 12 month licence. The renewal licence fee is $825.00 per concurrent user. Multiple user discounts are available. The program comes with a range of support features. A free trial version of Risk Manager Architecture is available to download from www.redgravel.com.au To celebrate the release of Risk Manager Architecture, Red Gravel is giving away one licence to a lucky member of the RAIA. Go to the website and download/request a trial version of the program to be eligible. For more information: www.redgravel.com.au or email
