Fujitsu Australia Limited has been awarded a five-year, $30.8 million contract to deliver managed services to HealthSMART, Victoria’s Whole-of-Health Information and Communication Strategy, following a competitive Victorian Department of Human Services (DHS) tender process.

Under the terms of the agreement, Fujitsu will provide managed services including 24/7 server and storage monitoring and management, network management, service desk support, technical advice and security administration in both the production and non-production environments.  Fujitsu will eventually manage more than 800 servers, as well as two multi-terabyte Storage Area Networks, comprising one of the largest government-run shared services environments in Australia.

Fujitsu, through its managed services contract, will also support a range of HealthSMART applications including Patient and Client Management Systems applications TrakHealth and iSOFT, Clinical Systems application Cerner, the financial application Oracle, payroll provider Frontier software and integration tool, SeeBeyond.

“HealthSMART is a great example of a state-wide program which aligns IT to the overall objectives of the organisation,” said Rod Vawdrey, Chief Executive Officer, Fujitsu Australia and New Zealand.  “Demand for acute care continues to increase along with the demand for greater cost control and further improvements to quality and safety.  These combined factors are causing a worldwide shift in how health care is delivered with Victoria leading the way with its HealthSMART program.  Fujitsu is looking forward to being part of the team which drives this great initiative in the Australian health sector.”
