The Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Immigration and Multicultural Affairs, Andrew Robb, said the total value of the contract was around $140 million. “Unisys will provide a one stop shop for service and help with IT issues including an IT service desk, internet and e-mail security, and desktop services,” he said. “The establishment of a single point of contact service desk by April 2007 will be one of Unisys’ key priorities and will enable coordination and management of all IT inquiries, issues and incidents from beginning to end. This system will also support the Systems for People programme which will provide a single view of the client in real time, and transforming the way the department carries out its business and assists clients.” Mr Robb said subject to successful tender negotiations, a contract was expected to be in place by the middle of December and would be for four years with two one-year extension options. He said if DIMA and Unisys could not agree on appropriate terms then the department may negotiate with the runner up, CSC.
