However, he warned me that when he turned 12, he would want a PS2 and he was right. So what we have in Japan is a situation where Xbox 360 has failed to make an impact in the past year and Wii, which will appeal to low-end gamers. Globally, Xbox 360 has done better, but not spectacularly well, and Wii will still appeal to low-end gamers. A recent games show in Tokyo, which heavily featured PS3 consoles, was reportedly packed with excited Japanese gamers itching to try out the new Sony box. So what do you reckon will happen on that day in November and for the rest of 2006 when they go sale in Japan? Probably the same as what will happen when they go on sale in the US and a few months later in Europe and Asia. PS3 consoles and games will be snapped up as fast they can be churned out. My kids have been nagging me for a new games console lately but the younger one is adamant that he’s prepared to wait for a PS3. I don’t intend to make the same mistake twice.
