set up to promote carrier-grade base platforms based on commercial off-the-shelf building blocks, has added Sun Microsystems, Wind River, GoAhead Software and Interphase to its membership. Earlier in the year Huawei Technologies, Lucent Technologies, Intel, and Diversified Technologies joined the Alliance. The Alliance www.scope-alliance.org defines and publishes profiles and identifies perceived gaps in existing open specifications which in turn are used by network equipment vendors to create compatible building blocks and base platforms. The published gaps are intended to be used as input to organisations that develop specifications as they consider future activities. The SCOPE Alliance encourages companies with diverse perspectives, specialisation, and experience to join in order speed up the development of commercial off the shelf carrier grade base platforms. Since its inception in early 2006 it has published a technical position paper including a 'reference architecture', an ATCA Profile and a Linux profile. {moscomment} |
