The IT and telecoms jobs market is booming, accounting for nearly 11% of all jobs advertised on the internet in August. However, consolidated internet jobs boards could be heading for a fall, according to a monthly survey. According to the Olivier Index, published monthly by recruiter Olivier Group, the number IT&T job ads on the net trailed only sales and marketing and trades and services and was well ahead of the accounting and engineering sectors. Robert Olivier, a director of the Olivier Group also issued a warning this week that despite the remarkable growth in internet job advertising the market could be about to fragment. According to Robert Olivier, Internet Job Boards are costing more and more for recruiters to use. However, he was talking to a sympathetic audience at the Pacific Area Newspaper Publishers' Association conference on the Gold Coast. “The average cost per placement online is now as high as it ever was in print,” he told print executives. Newspapers may be able to fight back by offering new and better services to recruiters, and it is likely that there will be many more specialist job boards, fragmenting the market, according to Olivier.{moscomment} |
