ReelTime Media Ltd (ASX: RMA) has launched its movie download service, ReelTime.tv (www.reeltime.tv)  available to anyone with a broadband Internet service and a current Windows PC.
ReelTime does not charge a monthly subscription fee: all titles are available for rental on a casual, per title basis. At launch the company has over 350 feature length movies from several major studios including 20th Century Fox, Sony, MGM, Universal, Palace, Icon, Granada and Playboy. Prices start from $1, but most near current releases cost $6. The viewing window varies but is at least 24 hours.

Reeltime claims to have content from more  major studios than Telstra BigPond’s download service, and a far greater range of current titles. It says that average download times  over DSL2 services are around 11 minutes. File sizes are typically 650Mbytes for a 90 minute movie, which would take almost two hours to download over a 1Mbps DSL service delivering full bandwith all the time, and some movie files can be up to 1.2Gbps which would take almost four hours at 1Mbps. Also, unless customers are also customers of one of Reeltime's partner ISPs, this content will be included in their monthly download quotas.
