Air traffic and defence software provider Adacel (ASX:ADA) has been awarded a A$4.7 million (US$3.6 million) contract by the US Air Force to upgrade 51 air traffic control tower simulators with Adacel’s latest visual display and voice recognition technologies.

The new deal comes on the back of a strong financial turnaround for Adacel, which last week posted a net profit of $4.94 million compared with an after tax loss of $9.84 million last year. Adacel also posted strong revenue growth of 40% to $52.39 million.

Fred Sheldon, Adacel CEO North America said today: “We continue to apply cutting edge technologies to the advancement of our simulation solutions and we work closely with the USAF to ensure that their Adacel simulators continue to represent the state-of -the-art in air traffic controller training.”

Adacel has built and installed 90 ATC tower simulators at various USAF facilities around the world and supports and upgrades these simulators on an ongoing basis.
