Optus to bundle broadband with HP laptops E-mail

Optus has formed a partnership with Hewlett-Packard to offer a package of broadband Internet access and laptop computer for a monthly fee.
All notebooks offered under the partnership come with the option of either Optus Broadband or Optus Wireless Connect, which combines access via Optus 3G, 2G and WiFi networks.

Stuart Tucker, marketing director Optus Small & Medium Business, said IDC research had shown notebooks accounting for 70 percent of PC sales

The Consumer range includes options from a range of software packages: Corel; WordPerfect Office X3; Corel Photo Album and DVD software; Microsoft Encarta encyclopaedia; Microsoft Money; Symantec Norton Anti-Virus & Internet Security 2006. Full details are available on the Optus Web site.

The small business range includes Microsoft Office 2003 Basic and a range of business services provided by HP designed for SMEs. Full details are available on the Optus Web site.

Prices start at $69.90 per month, when combined with an Optus home phone or an eligible mobile plan over 24 months.

Options available on the consumer plans are the Compaq Presario V2656AU, V3020AU and V6002AU notebooks with prices starting a $69.90, 89.90 and $109.90 respectively, on 24 month contracts.

Business packages are based on the HP Compaq nx6310, nx6325 and nx6320 notebooks with prices starting at $89.95, $109.95 and $139.95 respectively, on 24 month contracts.

The deals are available from any Optus World store on from Optus telesales on 131 839.
