Well we all saw it coming and now it's here - a mobile phone that has the look, feel and consumer appeal of an iPod. Except it isn't made by Apple. The US release of the Verizon Chocolate phone, made by LG Electronics, has caused a minor sensation the world over and must be causing a little discomfort to Apple, which has been working on its own phone. The Chocolate phone can store up to 1000 songs with additional memory and comes in a slide configuration. Music downloads cost 99c if you buy through your PC or $1.99 if you download directly to your phone. For the moment, iPod is fairly safe. Music downloads are the same price as the Chocolate from your PC, the iPod has so much more storage capabilities and iTunes is an easy and popular place to shop online. However, the Chocolate phone is a wake-up call for Apple to get cracking and release its own phone soon because mobile phones are the future of portable music devices. {moscomment} |
