Telstra has selected MetaSolv's Activation 5 OSS product to fulfil the key service activation role for its next-generation voice, broadband, IP wireline and 3G wireless networks and services. Telstra will use MetaSolv to help consolidate its current multiple activation systems, with the aim of reducing operations costs, improving customer service and accelerating time-to-market for new services through rapid service introduction and bundling. This is one of the key roles in its OSS rationalisation program announced by COO Greg Winn last November when he said that around 80 percent of some 1200 separate systems would be removed over the next three years. Another key role has been taken by Amdocs. Telstra had earlier denied reports that Amdocs was the chosen vendor but in a low key statement at the foot of its Q3 results released last week, Amdocs, which has just agreed to buy Cramer Systems said: "During the third quarter, Amdocs new business included 11 key wins, across geographies and lines of business...In Australia, Telstra has selected Amdocs as one of the key vendors for an OSS transformational program." |
