Microsoft announced at the beginning of the month that Windows 98 and Millenium Edition users will no longer be supported by Microsoft from July 11, leaving an estimated 70 million users exposed to hackers. An iTWire poll asked the question: "Should Microsoft continue to support Windows 98?" However, far from reponding with an unequivocal "yes", users were fairly evenly divided, with 53.9% of respondents answering yes and 46.1% answering no. Some users have emailed iTWire saying that they are forced to stay with Windows 98 because of the financial considerations of upgrading hardware and software. {moscomment} |
