The TRENDnet products follow introduction of the Linksys products earlier this week. Powered by Atheros’ XSPAN technology, they are claimed to provide significantly higher throughput at extended ranges, primarily by using MIMO (multiple input, multiple output) technology. "As a result, these products offer physical data rates up to 300Mbps -equivalent to 150-180Mbps of real user throughput performance. A single home network based on TRENDnet’s Wireless N-Draft products is capable of distributing several high definition TV streams throughout the home while providing plenty of bandwidth for VoIP calls, playing online video games, sharing digital photos and the transferral of data files," according to Bax. Bax's managing director, Matthew Mann, claimed that "Atheros’ XSPAN solutions provide the best performance and compatibility with existing TRENDnet Wi-Fi products and other Draft 11n solutions used in home and office environments." The TRENDnet Wireless N draft router (TEW-631BRP) is also claimed to offer advanced traffic prioritisation to manage QoS for video, voice, online gaming and other streaming applications. The TRENDnet Wireless N product family includes the TEW-631BRP router - $349; TEW-630APB access point - $349; TEW-621PC PC card - $224 and the TEW-623PI PCI adapter - $239. |
