IT services group, Dimension Data Australia, has finalised the acquisition of the SecureData business. This follows the signing of a heads of agreement last week.

"There are strong synergies between Dimension Data and the SecureData Group and as such this acquisition represents a logical step for the company", said Steve Nola, CEO of Dimension Data Australia. "SDG has built up an enviable reputation as a niche systems integrator focused primarily in the areas of storage, back-up, server and database management. This in turn translates into a high degree of strategic fit with Dimension Data's local and global data centre solutions (DCS) business".

According to a Dimension Data statement, more than 50 per cent of SDG's employees will be transferred into Dimension Data's DCS business and it is expected that the acquisition will have minimal impact on Dimension Data's current structure and reporting lines.

As a result of the acquisition, Dimension Data will also acquire SDG's 51 per cent shareholding in SQL Services in New Zealand. The scope of transaction does not encompass the purchase of SDG's former subsidiary, Databank, which will continue to trade independently.
