Boston Massachusetts based Iron Mountain has acquired Australian company, DigiGuard, a provider of data protection services in Australia and New Zealand. The move follows Iron Mountain's entry into the regional market in October 2005 through the acquisition of the Australian and New Zealand operations of Pickfords Records Management. Bob Miller, executive vice president of Asia Pacific for Iron Mountain, said: "We will continue to build out our operations here and expand our portfolio of solutions for both our local and global customers. The addition of the DigiGuard services is an important step." DigiGuard has been operating since 1997 as a specialist provider of offsite data storage and IT risk mitigation. Its founder, Macgregor Thompson will remain with Iron Mountain reporting to Iron Mountain's managing director of Australia and New Zealand, Ian Hollow. Iron Mountain helps organisations reduce the costs and risks associated with information protection and storage through the provision of records management and data protection solutions, along with "the expertise and experience to address complex information challenges such as rising storage costs, litigation, regulatory compliance and disaster recovery". The company was founded in 1951 and claims more than 90,000 corporate clients throughout North America, Europe, Latin America, and Asia Pacific. |
