Canadian company AirG, which claims to be the global leader in powering mobile communities and wireless social networking, has released a "comprehensive mobile community offering" on the Optus network.
It will give the six million Optus customers access to a series of Interest-based 'micro-communities', which include Sports Chat, Games Room, Rainbow Room, AirDate and Hookt.

According to AirG, Optus customers will be able to "easily meet like-minded people from around the world, and will be interconnected to more than 7.5 million community members through AirG's community deployments on more than 85 mobile operators and media companies globally".

Each community incorporates 'multiple unique features' such as picture profiles, public and private messaging, presence, instant messaging, blogging and search tools.

Optus' mobile communities incorporate elements from AirG's suite of mobile community software, which includes the Community Storefront, Community Marketing Engine, and the ACMA compliant Community Patrol monitoring solution.

According to AirG, Optus customers can access all five mobile communities and community content by surfing to the Optus Zoo portal (www.optuszoo.com.au) from their cellphone and selecting ''Chat' and then 'HOT Chat' under the 'Communicate' channel.
