The change will include the transfer of over 170 IBS unit of Optus Business into the organisation. About 150 of these technology and business professionals will join Alphawest’s Technology Solutions and Managed Services Divisions, while the balance will be absorbed by other Alphawest business units. The move is designed to strengthen Alphawest’s ability to deliver complete ICT services, consulting, solutions and managed services offerings across Australia. The company’s three core lines of business have been reorganised and renamed. Alphawest’s three business units are now called: managed services; technology solutions; and business solutions. Ian Smith has been appointed General Manager – Technology Solutions. He was previously in the Optus Business IBS team. Stephen Wood, previously the General Manager of Alphawest’s large NSW operation, has been appointed General Manager – Business Solutions. John Sangertakes on the role of General Manager – Managed Services. He was previously National General Manager of Operations at Alphawest. “These changes are a natural extension of the strategy behind Optus Network Pty Ltd’s acquisition of Alphawest and puts in place strong skills to grow the business,“ said Garry Henley, the Chief Executive Officer of Alphawest. “Alphawest was acquired to provide its specialised and proven ICT services expertise that Optus Business customers require. Now we are taking the next step – providing customers with a single point of contact for all of their IT and communications needs by consolidating the Optus Business IBS unit with Alphawest. “We have created a single ICT business that combines the key elements of both Optus Business IBS and Alphawest. We took the time to analyse all business processes and customer requirements and re-aligned Alphawest accordingly. We are now able to respond more effectively and efficiently to all our customer’s ICT needs. The outcome of the acquisition mean that we are in a stronger position to provide real business value while minimising risk to address customer ICT issues,” he said. {moscomment}
