Skype has partnered with Voxeo, and Language Line Services to offer global Internet calling and live interpreters in more than 150 languages.
Skype, Language Line Services and Voxeo, a provider of standards-based interactive voice response (IVR) and VoIP) platforms have put together a mix of Internet calling technology and personal interpreter services that gives Skype users "the ability to talk instantly to anyone, anywhere in the world, at any time, regardless of language".

Skype says that it subscribers can now be on the phone in up to a five-way conversation with other Skype users and a live, professional interpreter, within seconds.

Language Line Personal Interpreter Services over Skype costs $US2.99 per minute and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Interpreter costs are automatically debited from the caller's SkypeOut prepaid balance.

The service uses Voxeo's Prophecy voice platform to automate the process of transferring the call from Skype to Language Line Services.  It is available at www.languageline.com/skype.
