Toshiba has released its new HD DVD equipped Qosmio notebook in US, a few weeks after it was brought to market in Japan. However, apart from the lure of watching HD DVD videos on a 17 inch notebook widescreen, it will take some convincing to get users to justify paying the hefty $3000 price tag.

However, according to Toshiba, the high-end configuration of the Qosmio AV notebook PC includes a lot more than just the onboard HD DVD drive. Fetaures include:

    * An Intel Centrino Duo Mobile Technology-based platform built around Intel's mobile dual-core processor
    * 4-in-1 functionality, combining TV tuner, audio, PC and DVD features
    * The world's first 1-bit digital amplifier in a notebook PC
    * New Harman Kardon bass-reflex speaker technology
    * World's first notebook integration of Dolby Home Theater featuring Dolby Virtual Speaker technology for 5.1 surround-sound
    * Toshiba Ultimate TruBrite display
    * Next-generation NVIDIA graphics
    * 1 GB of memory

The new notebook is available through Toshiba's online store at present.{moscomment}
