888 respondents answered an iTWire poll taken over 25 hours asking the question: "Should Microsoft be allowed to make its search engine the default in IE 7?" Of the respondents, 502 (56.5%) answered No, while 387 (43.5%) answered Yes. Recently, Google has issued a complaint to The Department of Justice in the US and the European Commission about Microsoft's intention to bundle its own search product as the default search box in its browser which has 85% market share. Google's belief that Microsoft is using its near monopoly in the browser market to gain an unfair market advantage in the search engine space obviously has some sympathy in the user community. Whether the regulators, which have both crossed swords with Microsoft in the past, will see it that way is a different matter. {moscomment}
