Bank of New Zealand has re-signed TelstraClear to provide is telecoms services in a four-and-a-half year multimillion dollar whole of business deal that includes provision of hosted IP telephony (IP centrex) services for 600 staff at 192 sites.
The transition to the hosted IP telephony system will take place over the next 18 months. TelstraClear used BroadSoft's BroadWorks platform. It will support a number of new features including extension mobility, allowing staff to 'log on' to any telephone within the Bank and be recognised, enabling calls and messages to be directed to that phone.

TelstraClear's subsidiary Sytec will manage the service calls for Bank of New Zealand's IP service.

Bank of New Zealand CEO, Peter Thodey, said: "TelstraClear's IP telephony solution will give us enhanced and consistent bank-wide telecommunications capability, allowing more effective communication with each other and with customers...IP telephony gives us the means to rethink our business and customers interaction."

He added: "We like the concept of a one-network solution which allows us to link the diverse requirements of our branches, ATM machines, data centres and corporate office."

TelstraClear has been telecommunications services provider to Bank of New Zealand since 1992 and provides the Bank's voice, data, mobile, Internet and toll-free services. The telecommunications account is one of the largest in New Zealand.
