The ability to detect and remove unauthorised Apple iPod music and movie formats on corporate IT networks is one of the new security solutions announced by UK vendor SurfControl.

The security company's new system now detects Apple iPod music and movie formats – detecting, preventing and removing these files if they are not approved, and controlling them if they are approved or allowed under company internet usage policies.

General Manager of SurfControl in Asia Pacific Charles Heunemann said the popularity of music and movie downloads added a new dimension to employee cyberbludging.

“Unauthorised downloading of music and movies affects employee productivity, chews up company bandwidth and raises issues of legal liability, particularly in relation to downloads of unlicensed or pirated material,” Heunemann said.{moscomment}
