YellowSheepRiver is about as likely a name for a PC manufacturer as a $150 64-bit desktop PC. However, Chinese PC maker YellowSheepRiver does indeed exist and it is about to bring to market a 64-bit cut price Linux PC called the Municator.

Dubbed the Wintel killer by its maker, the Municator runs Linux distro called Thinix, is powered by 64-bit Godson-2 CPU from BLX Semiconductor and reportedly offers performance similar to a Pentium III.

One would think that for just $150, you could not expect much in the way of connectivity options or in the box accessories. As far as accessories are concerned, you would be right. Basically what you get is a box and you can bring the rest yourself. However, connectivity is excellent and includes:

Front side
# AC'97 Codec ALC210A (Mic-in, Audio out)
# USB 2.0 port X 4
# IrDA X 1
# Power switch x 1 & Reset switch x 1
# Indicator for power x 1 & Indicator for IDE x 1

Rear Side
# S-Video connector
# VGA out port
# RJ-45 LAN port
# RS-232 DB9 COM port
# PS/2 port
# DC-in jack
# One 4-pin power output-connector (support +12V, +5V output)
# One IDE device

Onboard
# One mini-IDE device
# Internal LAN: On-board 100M/10Mbp/s Ethernet LAN controller Realtek : 8139D

What that all means is that if you have the time and inclination you can build yourself a pretty good system using the spare peripherals, such as monitor, mouse and keyboard, from one of your old PCs and, ith all those spare ports and slots,  you can connect it up to just about anything. Of course, that's if you have the time and inclination. {moscomment}
