CA announced the plans, to be rolled out over the next five years, following a high level meeting at the company’s New York headquarters last night. Dr Eugene Dozortsev, CA’s Vice President of Research & Development eTrust Security Solutions, said the company was committed to the strategic development of the local industry. “CA believes Victoria offers a unique environment for high-end development centres – universities that produce world-class skills, a stable workforce that is loyal to the businesses it works for and a legal environment that protects the IP we are developing. Our costs are also lower than in many other developed countries,” Dr Dozortsev said. “CA’s aim is to continue providing internships for up to 10 university students each year with the goal to offer ongoing employment after graduation. This is a key factor in our Victorian team’s strong track record of delivery, quality and expertise. “CA employs about 15,300 people worldwide. We believe we unify and simplify the management of enterprise-wide IT with a focus on systems management, security and storage.” Ms Thomson, who is in talks with ICT industry executives in the US all week, said CA’s commitment was a ringing endorsement of the local ICT industry. “Our competitive advantage in Victoria is our excellent skills base, and to have that recognised by an industry leader such as CA is clear testimony to that,” she said. “CA already employs about 150 Victorians in its R&D laboratories in Mooroolbark and Richmond, undertaking groundbreaking work in the eSecurity field. “CA has established its largest anti-virus research centre, the Corporate Centre of Excellence for Security, addressing key security areas of identity and access management and threat management. “Through its student program with our local universities, CA has formed a solid foundation for growing the company’s Melbourne base. “More than one third of CA’s Richmond R&D staff is hired from this program."{moscomment} |
