IT services provider, Unisys, and customer analysis software developer Portrait Software, have won a contract with The Queensland Office of Health Practitioner Registration Boards (OHPRB) to develop, implement and support an integrated registration system to process and manage all health practitioner registrations for Queensland’s 13 health practitioner boards.
The contract, which was awarded in December 2005, will see the Unisys and Portrait Software consortium provide system support for two years following the 11-month implementation period.

Using Portrait, Meridio and Microsoft Sharepoint technologies, the new Regulatory Services System will control the business processes and workflow around the registration, health monitoring and complaint management of health practitioners in Queensland.

“A key priority of any health regulator should be to ensure that registered health practitioners treat their patients safely and competently.  The Unisys-Portrait Software e-government solution will provide visibility into the profiles of all operating health practitioners, ensuring the highest standard of medical care is maintained in Queensland,” said Steve Parker, managing director, Unisys Australia-New Zealand.

“Through this contract, Unisys and Portrait Software will combine customer relationship management, business process management and enterprise application integration, yet it will be flexible enough to suit the changing needs of OHPRB.”

“This is the first step in developing a new system to register Queensland’s health practitioners in fields ranging from medicine and dentistry to pharmacy and speech pathology,” said Jim O'Dempsey, executive officer, OHPRB.

The largest integrated solution delivered by Unisys and Portrait Software is London’s Metropolitan Police Command and Control service.
