Downer EDI's engineering division, Downer Engineering, has been awarded major field engineering contracts, from Foxtel and Telstra, worth a total of $360 million over four years. The company has been awarded a multi-year national contract from Foxtel for installation and maintenance services for Foxtel's satellite customers in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. Downer Engineering's contracts with Telstra for access services and installation and maintenance contract for regional NSW have both been extended for two years with provision for two further one year extensions. According to Downer, the total value of these three contracts exceeds $360 million over four years and will place the forecasted revenue for Downer Engineering's overall communications business in excess of $300 million per annum. Downer Engineering commenced the provision of digital migration services for Foxtel's domestic satellite customers in 2004. It says that the scope of works for the new contract "builds on the client relationship established during this period". The contracts with Telstra are based on the servicing, installation and maintenance of the telecommunications links for regional NSW. The work includes extensions to and rehabilitation of the fixed line network, the repair of faults and restoration of services and telephony installations including ADSL Professional home installations. |
