Australian-based games developer, Tantalus Interactive, has formed a partnership with major Japanese publisher Kemco to develop an innovative new video game racing title on the Nintendo Dual Screen platform.
Tantalus is in Japan as part of a Victorian Government trade mission.

The Victorian Minister for Information and Communication Technology, Marsha Thomson, said the new game would be 100% purpose built in Melbourne and would be based on the successful Top Gear franchise for the Nintendo Dual Screen platform.  The game will have world wide release in late 2006.

“This is a fantastic development for Tantalus as it can only enhance their reputation on the international stage as an industry-leading game developer,” Ms Thomson said.

Tantalus Interactive is a Melbourne based company that has been developing video games since 1994. Tantalus has previously worked with Kemco; the two companies combining to produce the multi-award winning Top Gear Rally on Game Boy Advance in 2003.

“We’ve already had some success on the Nintendo DS with our SpongeBob title last year, and to have the opportunity to now make a racing game on that platform is a very exciting proposition. It’s great also to be working once again with Kemco,” Tantalus CEO Tom Crago said.{moscomment}
