Alcatel Australia has appointed former Nortel executive, Shirley Cotterill to head its Telstra customer account team.
At Nortel she held the roles of director, business development for Telstra wireless and voice and, most recently, for alternate operators. Nortel has been the supplier of Telstra's CDMA network since its inception but with that network due to be shutdown and with Nortel not on the list of Telstra's key suppliers for its next generation network project, opportunities for Nortel in Telstra are likely to be limited.
According to Alcatel she brings to her new role "established key relationships within Telstra and a strong background in championing business cases for investment in next generation convergent IP networks and wireless/wireline broadband services."
Prior to Nortel she worked in a number of organisations in the UK, including Cisco Systems Europe as business development manager, wireless.
