Australian eHealthy company IBA Health Limited (ASX:IBA) has signed agreements that authorise the University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) to commence implementation of a Total Hospital Information System (THIS).
Technitium Sdn Bhd, an associate company of IBA’s Malaysian partner, FSBM Holdings Berhad, has been commissioned by the Malaysian Government to supply and implement the THIS solution, valued at over $18.5 million, together with IBA, FSBM and AGFA of Belgium.

IBA’s share from the initial contract to supply the core business and clinical systems is expected to exceed $9.3 million for software and implementation services with recurring licence fees of $1.1 million per annum after an initial warranty period.

The deployment will automate all the stages of patient care starting from scheduling of treatment to discharge of the patient back to the community.

The IBA consorti7um won the contract in a keenly contested bid in which 22 vendors participated, representing technologies from North America, UK, Europe and Asia.

A systems study and implementation planning will start immediately and the first module will be operational by mid 2007 with the total project complete by 2008.

Steve Garrington CEO of IBA Health said, “UMMC is one of the 8 teaching hospitals in Malaysia and hence winning this contract is significant for the consortium. We plan to develop UMMC into a THIS show-case site for Malaysia and South East Asia."
