Optus and Vodafone will offer 3G services on their shared network in Brisbane and in the Gold Coast CBD from 1 April 2006. Both carriers already offer services in Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, the Brisbane CBD and the Brisbane Airport and will says they plan to roll out the 3G network to Adelaide and Perth by mid-2007. Both carriers issued lengthy press releases touting their full range of content offerings, service plans and handsets. However there appeared to be nothing new, despite Optus saying it was "also unveiling a new interface called MyZooNow an active, intuitive portal where information is continually updated and pushed to mobile handsets. MyZooNow gives a level of personalisation not seen before." Not in Brisbane perhaps, but where Optus already has 3G services: MyZooNow was launched last November, when Optus launched its 3G service in Sydney and Melbourne. |
