iiNet has sold its Internet search engine and online directory business, Anzwers, to ASX listed Ansearch for $250,000.

According to Ansearch, Anzwers has been in the top 10 search engines in Australia by popularity over the past six months.

Anzwers was originated by OzEmail in 1996 and acquired by iiNet along with OzEmail in 2005. According to Ansearch, "its sustained popularity over the past 10 years is due in part to the almost 18,000 websites that provide an Anzwers search box, text link of referral back to the Anzwers.com.au site."

Ansearch CEO, Dean Jones said the acquisition was expected to contribute to profitability within three months.
