The Australian Communications and Media Authority has issued a discussion paper to gauge the level of industry interest in using two unassigned television channels for applications such as subscription television, digital information services and open narrowcasting to fixed or mobile receivers.

The release of the discussion paper, "Future use of unassigned television channels", follows a request from Government to commence planning for possible allocation of the channels and to provide advice on technical issues and the initial scope of work in relation to allocation of the channels. Interested parties are invited to comment by 26 April 2006. The discussion paper is available from ACMA's website, here.
