NEC Australia has launched its first cellphone for the prepaid market "the super sexy i-mode enabled N343i... arguably the best looking prepaid handset yet. NEC claims it is "reminiscent of the iconic iPod...[and] features a cutting edge design, with white face and stainless steel finish." (This is the same company that many years ago gave us the P5 cellphone claiming its design had been inspired by the US 'Stealth' fighter-bomber!) The N343i has a built in VGA camera with self-timer and special effects, a full colour screen, speakerphone, handsfree unit, 6.25 days of battery standby time, polyphonic ringtones, a personal organiser and web and email capabilities. Telstra will sell the N343i for $179 plus $10 for the prepaid starter kit, which includes $10 worth of calls. |
