A call for papers has been issud for the 2006 Communications Policy & Research Forum will be held in Sydney on 25 and 26 September.

The  Forum was organised annually for a number of years by the Deprartment of Communications Information Technolog and the Arts, but dropped after the 2004 Forum. It was the picked up by a number of industry figures and organisations who volunteered their services to organise the 2005 event on a co-operative basis. They are continuing their co-operation for the 2006 event, describing themselves as "the custodians" of the Forum

A call for papers has been issued. Areas to be featured this year will include: digital media services,  telecommunications economics; next generation networks (NGNs)  media structures and regulation; wireless and mobile devices, culture and economics; consumer trends, including preferences and needs among the new platforms.

One of the custodians, Mark Armstrong of Network Insights, said: "This is a research-oriented forum open to all viewpoints...It is also a national meeting-place for the community of policy and research people...The aim is for most of  the speaking opportunities to be filled by papers submitted by interested people.  We want the Forum to be as open to all viewpoints as possible...The balance of the program will consist of talks by invited experts."
