Blackberry developer, Research In Motion, has purchased Ascendent Systems, which sells products that extend desk phone connectivity to wireless handsets in a campus environment, saying that the purchase will complement its current enterprise offerings.

Ascendent, already a member of the BlackBerry ISV alliance program, makes the Ascendent Voice Mobility Suite, standards-based software that augments existing PABX and IP-PABX systems.

According to RIM, Ascendent's solution is aimed at enterprises with heterogeneous telephony environments and customers that also deploy BlackBerry.
