Hutchison Telecom is to make the finalists in the Sony Tropfest short films festival available to its 3G customers. From 19 February they have been able to view each ten-minute finalist film free of charge on their mobile phone, and from 1 March at a rate of 50 cents per episode. Delivery of the films is the result of a collaboration between 3 mobile and Movie Network Channels a producer and aggregator of content. Hutchison says it "signals the commencement of further initiatives by the television network to supply programming for broadcast on new media distribution platforms." Sony Tropfest 2006 is the largest short-film festival in the world and takes place on February 26 in The Domain, Sydney attended by an estimated 100,000 people. |
