Australian retail software developer Beonic has taken off first prize in an Asia Pacific Information and Communication Technology Award (APICTA), which recognises the region's best technology innovators. At the weekend, Beonic was announced the winner of the Applications and Infrastructure Tools category for its Traffic Insight system. It was the only Australian company to take out an Award. Beonic’s software is designed to help retailers improve sales and productivity by providing visitor traffic intelligence. Beonic CEO Peter Cohen said the win would add momentum to the adoption of its retail intelligence solutions internationally. “We expect this win will raise the profile of how Beonic is assisting leading Australian retailers to understand better what their customers want,” he said. “This award delivers extra credibility to the world-leading nature of Beonic’s technology. As the only Australian company to win an award at APICTA, we are proud to represent Australia in this prestigious international forum.” Clients using Beonic technology include IKEA, Hutchison ‘3’ stores, Angus & Robertson Bookshops, Jeans West and Adidas as well as Mirvac, Gandel and Centro shopping centres, the Sydney Opera House, Sydney's Queen Victoria Building and Melbourne’s Federation Square. Beonic executive director Clyde McConaghy, who was in Thailand to accept the award, said the win would also raise Beonic’s profile in Asia-Pacific and further abroad. "Our Hong Kong dealer is doing well because the Chinese market is opening up," he said. A merit award in the General Applications category was presented to CSIRO Entomology and Hearne Scientific Software Pty Ltd for their innovative solution, Dymex-Climex. Dymex-Climex is a unique model-building.
